Synopsis
When financial ruin threatens her beloved Kentucky home, spirited Patricia Adair stakes everything on a bold gamble: mailing her theatrical manuscript to New York. On dazzling Broadway, cynical producer Godfrey Vandeford faces his own crisis, exasperated by the impossible demands of an imperious stage diva. Intrigued by Patricia’s purple-ribboned script, Godfrey concocts a scheme to stage the naive play as a deliberate flop to humble his unruly star. But Broadway is hardly prepared for the arrival of the sharp-witted young playwright from the blue-grass country. As rehearsals descend into lively chaos, Godfrey’s calculating plot begins to unravel before Patricia’s irresistible warmth, quick intelligence, and radiant optimism. Sparks fly between quiet southern tradition and the cutthroat glamour of the theatrical stage in this sparkling, lighthearted romantic comedy.
