Synopsis
On a bright May morning in 1919, a lighthearted circle of friends gathers in Chelsea to celebrate the fortunes of rising artist Philip Esdaile. Newly elected an Associate of the Royal Academy, Esdaile rejoices alongside his family, an astute barrister, a buoyant naval commander, and an impending wedding party. The sunlit studio hums with laughter and carefree camaraderie—until an ominous hush falls from the sky as an airplane engine abruptly dies overhead. Within moments, sudden tragedy strikes the gathering: a young man lies dead, killed by an intimate companion who steadfastly insists they were friends. What begins as an inexplicable crime rapidly entangles the witnesses in an intricate web of secrecy, photographic evidence, and psychological tension. As unspoken loyalties clash with justice, a lingering puzzle deepens: why is everyone so determined to conceal what really happened?
