Synopsis
In the decadent society of Victorian London, the strikingly handsome young Dorian Gray sits for the artist Basil Hallward, who captures his peerless youth in a breathtaking full-length portrait. But when Dorian meets the cynical aristocrat Lord Henry Wotton, he is seduced by a hedonistic philosophy that places sensory pleasure and fleeting beauty above all moral restraint. Terrified of growing old, Dorian makes a desperate wish: that he might remain forever young while the painted canvas bears the burden of his years. As Dorian plunges into a secret life of reckless indulgence and moral corruption, he discovers that his dark desire has come true in the most sinister way. While his own face stays untouched by time or sin, the portrait in the shadows begins to rot with the hideous decay of his soul. Oscar Wilde's Gothic masterpiece is an intoxicating, eerie exploration of vanity, art, and the price of boundless desire.
