Synopsis
Seeking escape from a brooding melancholy, Ishmael turns to the sea and signs aboard the Nantucket whaling ship Pequod. Beside him is Queequeg, a heavily tattooed South Seas harpooneer who becomes his steadfast companion. But what begins as an ordinary commercial voyage soon veers toward catastrophe. At the helm stands Captain Ahab, a grim and scarred commander consumed by a single terrifying obsession. Vowing revenge against Moby Dick, the ferocious white whale that severed his leg, Ahab binds his diverse crew to his fanatical quest across uncharted oceans. As ominous omens multiply and the boundless waters test their resolve, the hunt evolves into a harrowing struggle between mortal will and indifferent nature. Melville weaves an atmospheric, deeply philosophical epic rich in maritime lore, existential dread, and psychological tension, where one man's vengeful madness threatens to drag them all into the abyss.
